The investigations included four sheep genotypes: Pirot Domestic sheep, Pirot Improved sheep, crosses of F1 generation of Pirot Domestic x Wuertemberg sheep (P x W) and crosses of R2 generation of Pirot Domestic x Wuertemberg sheep (P x W). Two types of haemoglobin were established in all four sheep genotypes (HbA and HbB). Also, the presence of three phenotypes of haemoglobin (AA, AB and BB), two homozygotes and one heterozygotes was established. Greater number of animals of Pirot Domestic sheep belonged to BB phenotype, while sheep of Pirot Improved population and crosses of R2 generation had the greatest number of heterozygous AB phenotypes, and crosses of F1 generation had equal number of homozygous AA and BB phenotypes. Genotypes of Pirot Improved and Pirot Domestic sheep had the greates difference in frequency between HbA and HbB alleles in favour HbB genes. Smaller difference in the same direction was established in frequency of observed Hb alleles in crosses of R2 generation. The first crosses generation (F1) of Domestic and Wuertemberg breeds had equal frequency of HbA and HbB alleles.
