Effect of irrigation on the content of pigments in the epidermis of apple fruits

The quality of apple fruits was found to be effected by numerous biophysical as well as biochemical parameters. It is also effected by the content of colored substances in the epidermis of colored apple cultivars. Based on the investigations conducted it was proived that irrigation had substantial effect of the beta-carotene content in the epidermis of the Golden Delicious apple fruits grown on the palmette and flexible spindle. On the other hand the effect on the content of cyanidin - 3- arabinozide (anthocyanin) was insignificant. Nutrition and trimming were found to be of major importance affecting the content of colored substances.
