Nut characteristics and yield potentialities of arecanut lines [in Bangladesh]

An investigation was carried out to study the nut characteristics and yield potentialities of seven local and one exotic arecanut lines during 1993-94 and 1984-95 at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Rahmatpur, Barisal. arecanut lines exhibited substantial differences in all the characters studied. Two arecanut lines viz., AN004 and Anooy were identified as outstanding one. The line AN004 produced heaviest nut followed by AN007 were identified as outstanding one. The line AN004 produced heaviest nut followed by AN007. The arecanut line AN004 also had the highest nut yield being 7.70 and 7.10 t/ha followed by AN007 with the produce of 5.88 and 5.35 t/ha in 1993-94 and 1994-95, respectively.
