A study on demodicosis in dogs

Spread of demodecosis in 1238 dogs with skin lesions in Sofia was studied durind a three years period (1994 - 96). Out of them 13,5% are infected with Demodex canis either as a single causative agents (in 8,9% of the cases) or in a combinations with Microsporon (in 4,6%). Results of the medication demonstrate that most effective are the macrolid lacton endectocides (Cydectin and Ivomec), Cyflee and washing with emulsia and suspensions. For full recovery a long-term treatment is indispensable.
