1998
Miteva, E. (Institut po Zashchita na Rasteniyata, Kostinbrod (Bulgaria))
The experiments were carred out with Black Starozagorski and Nikus varieties in greenhouse conditions. Alluvial soils were used, polluted with arsenic in concentrations of 25, 50, 100 and 150 mg.kg-1. The experiment was interrupted 35 days after seed sowing in phenophase 2nd leaf, appearance of 3rd leaf. Arsenic content in roots, 1st and 2nd leaf was established and morphological plant properties were measured. It was established that arsenic uptake via root influences bimass synthesis and results in visible changes of the root system and the plant surface parts, which are the typical symptoms of toxicosis. The plant response to arsenic depends on the application rate and is different for both varieties.
