Comparatively most favorable climatic conditions for the formation of the present red soils in Bulgaria are found in the Continental - Mediterranean climatic area, embracing the most southern parts of the country and the Black Sea coast. The red soils in these areas can differ in their genesis. On the pure solid carbonate rocks, red soils are formed, called by the Italian term Terra rossa. They develop on the little clay material, left after the carbonate rock resolution, which minght be either preferritized or ferritized after its release through its further weathering. For the present, all red soils in Bulgaria are indicated as cinnamonic.
