Residuals of antibiotics and sulphanilamides in bee honey

Highly sensitive microbiological diffusion methods were used for detection of residual quantities of antibiotics and sulfaniamides in honeycombs from behives which have been treated six consecutive folds with penicillin, streptomycin, tetracyclin and sulphanilamides. No antibiotic residuals were found on days 30 and 60 after the last treatment with 250 000 and 500 000 UI penicillin in 500 ml sugar sirup given at 5-8 days interval. Streptomycin residuals were detected on day 30 and days 30 and 60 after the last treatment with 250 and 500 mg, respectively. Residuals were also found on days 30 and 60 after last treatment with 250 and 125 mg tetracyclin. Residuals were determined on days 30 and 60 aftrs the last administration of 500 mg sulphadimidine, while after treatment with 250 mg no residual were found.
