The paper deals with some epidemiological aspects of veterinary selection and ecology. It is suggested that realistic is to select for nonspecific disease resistance (multiresistance to opportunists) and for specific immune response to a concrete pathogen or only for some related pathogens. The elimination of immunologically extreme phenotypes (depending on the concrete trait), and sublethal genes is needed
