Carotene in yellowing birch leaves has been determined by means of a photometric method with the use of the 0.036% K2Cr2O7 as a standard solution. To determine the amount of carotene a standard curve has been worked out. The obtained data show that carotene content in yellowing birch leaves is rather high in comparison with the majority of fruits and vegetables used in food.
