[Effects of aerial environment and soil on the development of sacred fir decline symptoms] | Efectos del ambiente aereo y del suelo sobre el desarrollo de sintomas de declinacion de oyamel

English. In the Cultural and Recreational Park "Desierto de los Leones", a declination process has appeared in several forest tree species, one of them being Abies religiosa (H.B.K.) Schl. et Cham., which is the dominant species in the area. The declination symptoms are similar to those shown by related species under the declination process in other parts of the world, where various hypotheses have been developed. In general, some of these hypotheses attribute the damage to the aerial environment, whereas others attribute it to problems in the soil. The present study was designed to determine the importance these two factors present on the presence of three of the common symptoms in the area: bronzing or reddening, yellowing and defoliation. A 2X2 factorial design was used in the experiment. The first factor included two origins of soil: Desierto de los Leones and Cerro Tlaloc, whereas the second factor consisted of two aerial environments: site Desierto de los Leones and site Tlaloc; however, due to the death of some experimental units, the analysis of the information was carried out ignoring the factorial component of the treatments. The results indicate that the main factor involved in the presence of yellowing and the subsequent defoliation is the aerial environment of the Desierto de los Leones. The soil did not present significant effects on the variables studied

Spanish; Castilian. En el Parque Cultural y Recreativo Desierto de los Leones se ha presentado un proceso de declinacion de varias especies forestales, una de las cuales es Abies religiosa (H.B.K.) Schl. et Cham., que es la especie dominante en el area. Los sintomas que se presentan son parecidos a los de especies afines en declinacion en otras partes del mundo, de donde se han originado diversas hipotesis. En general, unas de estas hipotesis atribuyen el dano al ambiente aereo y otras a problemas en el suelo. El presente estudio se diseno con el objeto de determinar la importancia de estos dos factores sobre la presencia de tres de los sintomas mas comunes presentes en la zona: bronceado del follaje, clorosis y defoliacion. El experimento se establecio bajo un diseno factorial 2X2 en el que el primer factor estuvo constituido por dos origenes de suelo: Desierto de los Leones y Cerro Tlaloc, mientras que el segundo factor consistio en dos ambientes aereos: sitio Desierto de los Leones y sitio Tlaloc; sin embargo, debido a la muerte de algunas unidades experimentales, el analisis de la informacion se llevo a cabo ignorando el componente factorial de los tratamientos. Los resultados indican que el principal factor responsable de la clorosis y consecuente defoliacion es el ambiente aereo del Desierto de los Leones. El suelo no presento efectos significativos sobre las variables estudiadas
