Soil is a valuable resource which is gradually depleting due to increasing populations pressure. It should be properly used for sustainable agriculture. This can be accomplished by analysis of the soil resource inventory, diagnosing major soil-related issues, adopting scientific base and site-specific soil management technology for increasing the production of crops, rangelands and forests on sustained basis. By adopting this strategy, the gap between the present and potential yield could be minimized.
