White and blue light inhibited germination of negative photoblastic seeds of Amaranthus, whereas red light promoted it. White light slightly accelerated germination of Celosia seeds. Blue light inhibited hypocotyl growth of Amaranthus seedlings. Red light stimulated adventitious root formation in both species. Red light markedly suppressed amaranthin formation in Amaranthus seedlings and chlorophyll formation in Celosia seedlings
