Migration of dissolved humic substances in agricultural landscape

Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and humic substances (HS) were investigated in ground and surface waters on agricultural land. In the studied waters high concentrations of both DOC and HS were found. The concentrations of dissolved HS in the ground water under the field constituted 70 percent of DOC, while in the water under the meadow it constituted 65.5 percent of DOC. It was found that the fall in HS concentrations in the ground water flow across the meadow depends on the intensity of precipitation. In dry months the concentrations of HS dissolved in ground water under the meadow ranged from 16.3 to 34.0 percent
