In the paper the authors presented results of studies on the total chromium content in the soils of some chosen parts of the Bieszczady mountains: brown soils of acidic mountain pastures and fresh alluvial deposits that are generated mainly from the products of weathering and erosion of the higher parts of the Bieszczady. Total chromium content ranged from 10 to 87 mg pro kg of d.m. in the soils of mountain pastures, and from 4 to 45 mg pro kg of d.m. in the fresh alluvial deposits.
