Comparison of different methods to measure the infestation level of wintering honeybee colonies by the spores of Nosema apis Z

The results from the study indicate that the method which measures the infestation of bee colonies by the mean number of Nosema spores per 1 bee is just as accurate as the one involving the estimation of the percentage of affected bees in a sample of 10 individuals. The results also bear out earlier reports indicating a smaller reliability of dead bees as compared to the living ones as the measure of Nosema disease of bee colonies
