Study on coumarin compounds in the fruits and roots of Myrrhis odorata (L.) Scop

The study comprised the isolation of coumarins from Myrrhis odorata (L.) Scop. fruits and roots as well as their separation and identification by chromatographic methods: LC, TLC and HPLC. The plant material, mentioned above, has not been investigated on the content of coumarin compounds till now. Five coumarins in the petrol extract from M. odorata fruits were indentified, from among of which homogeneous substances were isolated. Their identity was confirmed chromatographically by the comparison with standards and determined as: umbelliferone, xanthotoxin and bergapten. Eight coumarins in the petrol extract from M. odorata roots were found, from among of which 4 furanocoumarins were isolated and their identity was determined. These were: imperatorin, bergapten, xanthotoxin and pimpinellin
