The paper presents a new technique for estimation the preconsolidation pressure Ocp. A series of consolidation tests with various soils taken from Zolawy region were performed. In this method, Ocp is obtained as the point of intersection of two straight lines extended from linear portions on either end of the compression curve plotted as log(1+e) against logOc. The result of the new method are closer to the real pressure than those of Casagrande method
