The influence of metal structure and chemical composition on intensity of its wear in natural clay soil of different moisture content was discussed. On the basis of laboratory tests the wear intensity was found to depend first of all on carbon and chromium contents in composition of the weld. The highest wear resistance in clay soil showed cast irons of ledeburitic and martensitic structure
