Resistance of cutting soil with tools of symmetric oblique wedge shape was investigated. The experiment aimed at determining the impact of cutting velocity on resistance increase. Measurements were carried out in field conditions on clay soil. On the basis of theoretical analysis and experiment results it was found that the forces of inertia were not only factor affecting dynamic soil resistance and the differences in resistance should be ascribed to strength parameters of the soil which increase along with the velocity
