Effect of sowing density on the yield of spring triticale in the Beskid Niski conditions
1997
Scigaska, B. (Akademia Rolnicza, Krakow (Poland). Katedra Ogolnej Uprawy Roli i Roslin)
In the field experiments the yields of two spring triticale cultivars (Maja and Jago), sown with two densities (550 and 650 grains per 1 square m) were compared. Higher yields of grain were obtained when Maja and Jago were sown with a density of 650 grains per 1 square m due to a higher number of ears per 1 square m and a lower weight of 1000 grains. The number of grains in an ear and the grain protein content did not depended on sowing density. Maja is more suitable to be grown in mountainous regions
