Influence of growing methods and nitrogen fertilization on infection symptoms at various times of negative selection on potato seed plantation
1997
Gasior, J. (Akademia Rolnicza w Krakowie, Rzeszow (Poland). Zaklad Chemizacji Produkcji Rolniczej)
The following factors were examined: nitrogen fertilization with 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg N/ha and various growing methods, such as traditional one and an intensive one including pregermination of seed potatoes, plant lice control and early defoliation. In the experiments, 5 varieties of potatoes differing in their resistance to PLRV, PVY and some other viruses were used. High nitrogen supply was found to have a masking effect on the symptoms. The use of higher doses of nitrogen reduced the number of diseased plants. Most of the negatively selected plants were removed in the latter part of July, only small number of them being removed in early part of June and at the end of July
