In the years 1991-93 yielding of barley varieties: Dema, Grosso, Klimek, Nagrad and Rudzik growing in pure sowing and ten variety mixtures in proportion 1:1:1, were compared on good rye soil complex. Six rows variety Klimek created lower ear number per 1 square m, but higher number of grain spikes. The higher grain yield in pure sowing was obtained from variety Nagrad and the lowest from Dema and Grosso. Yields of mixtures were higher by about 0.6 dt/ha, than the varieties yield in pure sowing. Mixtures yield amounted from 98 to 106 percent of average yield components. The best variety for mixtures was Grosso, especially in combination with Nagrad and Klimek varieties. Lodging of barley grown in mixtures was lower by about 6 percent than in pure sowing
