Against the background of literature review the mechanism responsible for presowing laser biostimulation of seeds was discussed. Results of own experiments showed the positive effect of seed laser treatment before sowing on crop yielding and quality. The yields of examined crops rosen in percent as follows: maize by 10-15, spring wheat by 20-30, spring barley by 20-25, rape seeds by 10-15, sugar beets by 10-30. The protein content in spring wheat grain increased from 12 to 15%, the sugar content in sugar beets rose from 15 to about 17% as a result of presowing seed treatmet with He-Ne laser
