The aim of this study was the effect of acute oral toxicity of plant growth stimulator - benzolinone on hare (Lepus europaeus). In the pre-test the benzolinone was given at doses 1.3 and 5 g/kg body weight (bw) and in the test with eliminating individual sensitivity 5000 mg/kg bw. It follows from the results that LD sub50 will be higher than 5000 mg/kg bw. In accordance with the clinical symptoms (apathy, dehydration), biochemical parameters (hypocalcemia, uremia), results of pathological and anatomical necropsy and histological findings it can be stated that the tested substance at the dose 5000 mg/kg bw inhibits interference into the metabolism of hare what is manifested hypothetically by dearrengement of acid - base balance in organism with damage of kidneys
