Acidification of surface and ground water in Slovakia: critical levels and critical loads

Within the contact on environmental co-operation between Norway and Slovakia, this contribution presents results of the project "Maping critical levels/loads for Slovakia", in the surface and groundwater network. Critical loads were calculated from the present chemical composition of surface and groundwater with the help of steady-state model (SSWC). Critical loads of acidity for surface water were systematically higher than those for groundwater. Acidity value has been exceeded only in surface water in two cells
