Phytoplankton development of the Cunovo (Hrusov) Reservoir in the Danube River (Slovak Republic) during 1995-1997

Results of phytoplankton monitoring of the Cunovo (Hrusov) Reservoir in the Danube River in 1995-1996 are presented. Abundance, concentration of chlorophyll-a, net primary production, phytoplankton species diversity and physical and chemical determinants were measured at 5 stations in the reservoir and in the Danube in Bratislava. The upper part of the reservoir is very similar to the station in Bratislava (Slovak Republic). The lower part shows a slightly more increased level of phytoplankton abundance, biomass and net primary production than expected. The phytoplankton species diversity of the reservoir is virtually identical with that of the Danube River in Bratislava
