Effect of urea-formaldehyde condensates and nitrification inhibitors on the rate of creation of inorganic nitrogen
1998
Ondrisik, P. | Noskovic, J. (Slovenska Polnohospodarska Univ., Nitra (Slovak Republic))
The rate of creation of inorganic nitrogen forms after application of selected urea-formaldehyde condensates characterised by different activity indices (28.83 and 74.0) and nitrification inhibitors (thiourea, N-Serve) was tested in the laboratory on two soil types (Fluvi-Eutric Gleysol and Dystric Cambisol). The most significant factor affecting the rate of mineralisation of urea-formaldehyde condensates was their activity index: higher activity index, higher mineralisation. The nitrification inhibitors had a significant effect on decrease of nitrate nitrogen content in Fluvi-Eutric Gleysol only. Thiourea inhibited the making of nitrate more markedly, but its effect was about two weeks behind the impact of N-Serve
