In a paper the use of handheld chlorophyllmeter (SPAD-502; Minolta, Japan) for a determination of chlorophyll and nitrogen content in plant leaves is given. The data on relationship between SPAD readings, chlorophyll a+b and nitrogen content in plants are presented. The possibilities of using of SPAD-502 chlorophyllmeter in grass fertilization and breeding is discussed
