Application of the theory of reliability on creation of monitoring system, repairs and maintenence of irrigation equipment

There are approximately 16,000 hose reel irrigators and 600 long arm pivot irrigtors in use in Slovak agriculture at present. Their technical state and age structure are not satisfactory, although high level of technical reliability, low claims to work load, maintenance and supervising are necessary for sucessful and economical irrigation. Relatively unimpaired equipment is very often irreparable due to lack of spare parts, but especially of lack of knowledge where are spare parts available. The aim of the solution was to propose a system and gradual building of database for monitoring, repairs and maintenance of irrigation equipment in the framework of the Slovak Republic. In order to have supply of spare parts in amount which is reasoned from the technical and economical point of view we have chosen a theory of reliability. It is possiblle to calculate from theoretical knowledge and regularity not only supposed breakdown rate but also necessary spare parts. Values calculated in that way are very relevant for planing spare parts purchase, for arrangement their production and also for identifying most breaking parts which is possible to use for new better design solutions. The database is designed for three field: field irrigation system, pipe irrigation network and pumping stations. Each field is self-standing. Functional database model is based on data obtained from catalogues. This system will enable to monitor consumption of spare parts and will provide information about number and place of storage of spare parts. All data are processed in tables with help of software Access for Windows
