Main objectives of this study are to study the cost and returns of canned shrimp and crabmeat in Thailand, both private and social cost: and to find domestic resource cost of canned shrimp and crabmeat in order to give policy recommendation in the promotion on this canning industry. Medium crabmeat cannery has the largest private and social net profits. Likely for shrimp, the medium-sized cannery has the largest private and social net profits. The results of domestic resource cost ratios reveal that crabmeat cannery has a lower domestic resource cost than shrimp cannery. Medium-sized crabmeat cannery has the lowest domestic resource cost ratio, i.e, 0.51, following by the small and the large one, i.e, 0.62, 0.64 respectively, Medium-sized shrimp cannery has the lowest domestic resource cost ratio, i.e, 0.74, following by the large and the small one, i.e, 0.77, 0.81 respectively. In conclusion, there should be a promotion on the crabmeat cannery rather than shrimp. The medium-sized cannery should be promoted as the first priority, following by the small and the large one.
