Factors affecting Thai-orchid export transportation demand and supply

Orchids are the export commodities which make a lot of revenue to the country. In 1991, it was 622.38 million bahts. The main problem of orchid export is insufficiency of freight in orchid export. A portion of orchids could not be export which affected to the revenue of producers, exporters and the country. The objective of this study was to find away factors affecting both demand and supply of transportation for orchid exports by utilizing the multiple regression models. The outcomes of the analysis showed that the important factors determining demand for orchid export transportation were export season and GDP of the buying counties respectively. On the supply side, the real freight rate, the number of non-scheduled flights which loading cargoes and the number of passengers on scheduled flights which loading both cargoes and passengers were the main factors respectively. The reccommendation, the airlines should increase in the number of freight flights. The Thai Airway Co;Ltd should change structure of cargoes transportation. And the Aviation Commercial Department should utilized the floating rate scheme and procure freight for orchid export in time of violently insufficiency of freight.
