Effect of different growing media on green house lettuce growing in soilless culture

This study has carried out to investigate the effect of different growing media on greenhouse lettuce growing in soilless culture. In the trial 8 different media, (1) perlite, (2) pumire, (3) 1:1 fine sawdust-perlite, (4) 1:1 fine sawdust-pumice, (5) 1:1 ground pine (Pinus brutia) bark-perlite, (6) 1:1 ground pine bark-pumice, (7) fine sawdust, (8) ground pine bark, pots which were sized 4 liters and as a plant material lettuce (cv. Bounty) were used. pH and EC values of nutrient solution drained from pots were measured once a week. After harvesting; average crop weight, total leaf number, consumable leaf number, not consumable leaf number and proportion of hearted lettuce were determined
