The invention refers to the field of microbiology, namely to a nutrient medium for growing Bacillus bacteria with the aim of producing a bacterial polysaccharide from non-traditional carbohydrate-containing raw materials. For preparing the nutrient medium as carbohydrate-containing material a topinambur powder is used. Other components are fumaric acid, potassium phosphate and water. Content of the main component 20-60 grammes per liter provides the bacterial polisaccharide output 6.3-11.8 grammes per liter. Adding potassium phosphate and fumaric acid stimulates accumulation of the end product in the cultural medium
