The economic losses produced by Tanymecus dilaticollis damage to corn seedlings and to sugar beet as well are steadily increasing. Only five insecticides for its control have been registered in Yugoslavia. Ten insecticides are permited for use against other Curculionidae pests of field crops. To broaden the choice of insecticides for control of Tanymecus dilaticollis, laboratory tests were run. The effects of carbosulfan, carbofuran, fenthion, zeta-cypermethrin, bifenthrin and carbosulfan plus zeta-cypermethrin mixture were determined upon percent of mortality and paralyses of insects exposed and fed on sprayed seedlings.
