In the south-eastern Serbia (Yugoslavia), on the Radan Mt., in the region Deli voda, within the contact part between oak and beech zone, at altitude from 850 to 900 m a.s.l., is discovered and described the new association of sycomore and hornbeam (Aceri-Carpinetum betuli). The region Deli voda has the character of a refugium, with numerous brooks which permanetly moisten these grounds, and they rise during the rainy seasons of the year. This part of Radan Mt. is made from andesite and dacite-andesite rocks, and the blocks are dispersed all around. Soils are humus-accumulative, poorly developed, shallow to medium deep, somewhere deep brown soils over andesite, predominantly.
