This paper deals with genetic resources and breeding results in sugar beet. Sugar beet collections exist in three institutions in Yugoslavia. Most of the genotypes comprising these collections have been characterized. However, the collections are defiecient in wild species. There were developed a large number of monogerm hybrids with good production characteristics.
