The number of weed species, fresh and dry weight were monitored twice at 30 and 60 - day intervals. The combination of flumetsulam and alachlor applied in corn at three rates analyzed was shown to be efficient (90%) in controlling the following weed species: Amaranthus retroflexus, Chenopodium album, Datura stramonium. Hibiscus trionum, Polygonum lapathifolium, Solanum nigrum, Stachys annua, Echinochloa crus-galli, Setaria glauca, Sinapis arvensis, seed originating Sorghum halepense. Both rates of flumetsulam and trifluralin combination applied in soybean was shown to be efficient (over 90%) in controlling the following two weed species in addition to those previously mentioned: Ambrosia artemisifolia and Portulaca oleracea. Phytotoxic effects were monitored during the vegetation period of both corn and soybean. However, phytotoxic effects were not registered.
