With the aim of assessing the mycotoxicological soundness of feed, we analyzed samples originating from Vojvodina (Serbia, Yugoslavia) and its surrounding. During a three-year investigation period (from 1994-1996), a total of 148 feedmixes were analysed, and the following mycotoxins were determined: ochratoxin A (OA), zearalenone (F2), aflatoxin (B1, B2, G1, G2) and thrichothecene mycotoxins (T-2, DAS and DON). The feedmixes were intended for feeding all categories of chicken. On the basis of examinations performed on a limited number of samples and comparing them to the Book of Regulations on the maximum tolerable levels, it can be concluded that poultry feedmixes are relatively sound and safe from mycotoxin polutants; however, we are of the opinion that continuous monitoring of the presence of mycotoxins is necessary to apply, which would include a considerably higher number of samples.
