This study presents the results of manganese detection in samples of complete feedmixes intended for feeding laying hens. Manganese was determined by the atomic absorption spectrophotometry method and the obtained results were compared with the current law regulations. The manganese content in the examined samples ranged from 72.5 to 142.5 ppm (105.9 ppm on the average), including two samples containing a lower manganese content than set by legislature. On the other hand, as much as 50 of the examined samples contained manganese concentration above the tolerable level (105.0-142.5 ppm). The interval between maximum and minimum tolerance level (20 mg) stated by legislature, is being questioned due to its relatively narrow scope.
