Investigation of some characteristics of the bone processing rest as animal feed

In recent years, because of ecological, economical and nutritive reasons, utilization of slaughterhouse by products gains in importance. Among all by-products of meat industry bones are mostly represented regarding the quantity. Taking into consideration that bones contain significant quantities of protein, fat and mineral matters, using a definite technology, it is possible to manufacture new products such as bone processing rests. The authors examined bone processing rests obtained by their own procedure from cattle spinal column. They presented the data on chemical composition, fatty acids and toxic and mineral elements. Obtained results pointed that bone processing rests can be convenient feed for animals and that it can substitute dicalcium phosphate in animal feed.
