The procedure of milling raw materials for animal feed with a roller mill has been examined. The aim was to find out in our conditions the advantages regarding the particle size and particle size range that can be achieved with a roller mill compared to hammer mill which is most often used in our feed mills. It has been found that the structure of milled material with high share of particles with narrow range of particle size can be achieved with a roller mill. The narrow range of particle size was to obtained for three raw materials examined (corn, barley, sugar beet pulp pellets). If coarse milling with small share of fine particles is desired, than a roller mill is right choice.
