The influence of genetic and some paragenetic factors on milk yield of Simmental cows

According to the aim of the investigation the production traits of three genotypes of Simmental cows (Yugoslav Domestic Spotted breed - genotype 1, Simmental breed imported from Germany - genotype 2 and Slovenia - genotype 3) have been investigated. On the basis of obtained results, Simmental breed imported from Germany could be given advantage over the other two genotypes regarding its better hereditary basis (genetic potential) for milk production. Emerging of the genetic potential was highly dependent on the investigated paragenetic factors some of which could be more or less influenced by a breater, what should be taken into consideration in the course of further work on breeding and selection.
