The present study investigated the influence of hyperenergetic diet supplemented with margarine and sunflower seed oil - pig fat mixture on serum lipids in rats. We used male Wister rats as an experimental model, age 2 months and 200 g weight at the beginning of the experiment. Control (K) group was fed 18 g/day standard laboratory normoprotein-normoenergetic diet. Group M (margarine) was offered standard diet supplemented with 20 g margarine (Vital - Vrbas, Yugoslavia), ad libitum. Group UM (sunflower seed oil - pig fat) was offered standard diet supplemented with 20 sunflower seed oil (Vital - Vrbas, Yugoslavia) - pig fat mixture (1:1), ad libitum. Lipid supplemented hyperenergetic diet caused increase of all investigated lipid parameters after 4 weeks. Levels of lipid parameters did not differ significantly between experimental groups. Therefore the increase was influenced by quantity not the quality of lipid supplemented diets.
