[Diallel analysis of crosses among oriental tobacco cultivars "Samsun"]

The experiment was grown in randomised block design with 3 replication, in two environments during three years. The variance analysis proved the presence of an important genetic variability, where highly significantGCA mean effects were observed for all characteres. Significant SCA mean effects were observed for plant height, days to flower, middle leaf size and shape, as wellas percent nicotine. Both additive and non-additive gene action appeared to playa significant role in the inheritance of yield and quality. Average heterosis value were significant for asll traits except leaf number, dry matter and vein percent. For the most of characters the development of pure lines may be most important in the production of orientasl toacco Samsun.
