Study on the technologies' impact on the corn's energy balance

Six technological variants for weeds control and four technological favor pests control were studied. It was found out that when the corn was grown by the use of mechanical intra rows earthing up, at equal other conditions, the positive energy difference lowers by 0.026 MJ/kg per grain, while the weeds control with chemicals lowers the energy difference up to 0.7-0.8 MJ/kg. Depending on the pests' type and density the positive energy difference from the corn's grains and the energy expense for production decrease from 4.584 MJ/kg down to 4.034-4.451 MJ/kg (3 to 14%).
