Effect of excess copper on the growth of some cereal species

The influence of three copper concentrations (150, 250 and 400mg.kg-1 of soil) on some typical for Bulgaria cultivars of rye (Secale cereale), barley (Hordeum vulgare) and wheat (Triticum aestivum) were investigated. Some morphological measurements (ears lenght, ears weight, roots weight and seeds weight) are made in phenophase ripening. Cereal species show some differences, according to their resistance to the copper content in the soil. It was established that the developing of investigated plants is possible to be stimulated from the copper presence in the soil. There is no correlation between copper concentration and plant stimulation - this effect is different and depending on the proper cereal species.
