This study was undertaken to test the effect of two preparations: Ferocol plus-lyophilized and Ferocol plus-paste (containing iron, copper, zinc and manganese) and Dextrofer 100(containing iron) on the body mass, haematopoiesis and contents of the microelements in liver and spleen of the growing piglets. Four groups of suckling piglets (n=8 each) were treated as following: group 1 - 1,0 Ferocol plus-lyophylized given orally for 3 successive days; group 2 - 6,0 Ferocol plus-paste orally for 5 successive days; group 3 - a single i. m. injection of 2 ml Dextrofer 100. The piglets of the untreated 4 group were controls. Data indicate that the treatment with Dextrofer 100 resulted in the highest accumulation of body mass (6810g) on day 30 after injection and lowest values in the controls (5316g) . Ferocol lyophilized and Ferocol paste increases significantly the haemoglobin content and red cell count and cause enhanced resorptipon of iron, zinc, copper and manganese in liver and spleen.
