Dispersal patterns of natural enemies of rice planthoppers between zizania and rice fields

This paper dealt with dispersal patterns of egg parasitoids, Anagrus spp. and predatory spiders of rice planthopper, Nilaparvata lungens between rice fields and neighboring Zizania fields. Placing sticking traps and pitfall traps on the field bund, the dispersal direction and rates of rice arthropods were monitored. The results showed that Anagrus spp. and spiders frequently moved between rice and Zizania fields. However, and obviously more egg parasitoids and spiders moved into rice fields from Zizania fields during the newly rice transplanting period and early stage of rice. Before the harvesting, more Anagrus spp. and spiders were observed to move back to Zizania fields as a refuge, or for overwintering. It is suggested that a proper deployment and inter-cropping of rice and Zizania will efficiently enhance the population of both egg parasitoids and spiders in rice fields
