Pine caterpillar, Dendrolimus houi Lajonquiere, is the most destructive pest in China, while D. punctatus wenshanensis Tsai et Liu is a locally serious pest in Yunnan and some other provinces in China. From the viewpoint of resource utilization and exploitation, the nutritional value of its pupa was studied. Its protein content amounts as much as 61.26%, with 15 amino acids detected; the fat content is 19.75%, of which unsaturated fat acids up to 61.46%, and indispensable fat acids 28.40%
