Effect of rejuvenate pruning and thinning fruits on yield and fruit size of apple cultivar 'Aia ilu'

In 1997-1999, rejuvenate pruning was investigated at the Polli Horticultural Institute in the apple cultivar 'Aia Ilu'. The trees were 30 years old, grafted on the seedling rootstock. The results were the following: improving light conditions inside the crown, increasing fruit size and relative importance of greater apples. Thinning fruits in the middle of summer increased also the part of greater fruits, with diameter over 70 mm. The whole yield after rejuvenate pruning decreased
